Dear Rick Riordan

Dear Rick Riordan,
Hi, My name is Zach and I am eleven years old. I live in Shoreline, Washington and go to Ridgecrest Elementary. I wanted to read your new book, The Lost Hero because I have read the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series and this was about the same things and had some of the same characters. Usually I read books that are about things like magic, gods, adventure, or science fiction. The kind of books I like reading the most are fiction, science fiction, realistic fiction, auto biographies, and adventure. Some of my favorite authors are you(Rick Riordan), J.K. Rowling, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and D.J. MacHale.
One thing I really liked about the Lost Hero is the way you changed character perspectives every two chapters with Jason, Piper, and Leo. I could see a lot of connections with this book and the Percy Jackson series as they are about the same topic and it shares some of the same characters.
Something I noticed was that Jason’s(the main character) supposed best friend Leo acted a lot like me because he is always making jokes and needs to keep his hands busy which I often feel the need to do. Given the circumstances that Jason and his friends were often in I would of probably just either run or hide because seeing real monsters would most likely freak me out. I think all the main characters made the right choices like when Piper had to betray Jason and Leo or else her Dad would die instead she chose to tell them about her choice and they managed to save him without any betrayal. I think the character that I am the least alike is the wind god Aeolus as he has many strange personalities and is very insane. If I could ask the main character, Jason one question it would be what is it like being a demigod. I think his answer would be saying something like the only good part about it is the powers and all the monsters cancel that out, so lets just say that you wouldn’t want to be one.
I really like the way you describe every little thing very detailed but not so much that it made it boring. You put just enough detail in to make it very interesting but not too much so that it would just be space fillers. I also really like your style of writing because you take these gods from ancient Greece and you have them talking in twenty-first century vernacular.
I think the greatest moment of tension was when Leo and Jason were hypnotized into fighting each other by Medea. That scene was very suspenseful because they were fighting to the death but they didn’t know it, luckily at the last minute Piper talks them out of it.
Overall I think the book, The Lost Hero is a really good book with a very imaginative plot and is just a very well written story. I think The Lost Hero is one of the best books I have ever read. Good bye and thank you for your time, and it would be wonderful if you could write back to me.
Thank You,
Zachary _____________
